Hi! I am Christi!

About Me

Christi Silbaugh: A nice Mom from my high school taught me how to cook my first recipe. She taught me how to make Chicken Tetrazzini and I was hooked. After that I got every cookbook I could find. We were really tight financially, and so I didn't have many. I always wanted to be a writer, but I knew that it was a very hard field and I needed to keep that as a hobby, and get a real job in the meantime. My Senior year of high school I was voted most likely to be an author. I went to college, got a degree in software engineering from OIT, so that put into play me knowing how to program and run websites. I worked as a software engineer for a while before starting my own successful company Pure Country Pet Boutique ( I sold it January of 2012 to focus on cooking only). The rest comes easy. I got married, had kids and slowly learned to cook new things all the time, because I loved to. I was known for my cookies. I was good at baking, but didn't know too much about "cooking". The drive was there, and I taught myself. Not having the time for culinary school, I bought the text books for the school. I read through and did the homework, just like I would have if I was attending school. I started watching iron chef and fell in love with Morimoto and Bobby Flay's cooking skills, oh what I would do to spend one day in the kitchen with either one of them. I wanted to get better. I started going to a lot of high end gourmet restaurants and I would order a lot, take notes, and then go home and re-create it. My family was in heaven. My specialty was hand rolled pastas and ravioli. I began blogging, just because it was faster to type my recipes than it was to write them. Then tragedy struck when my daughter was 16. She was so ill, her hair was falling out, she had horrible rashes and skin problems. She missed a lot of school from stomach pain that we could not figure out. Finally the answer came. She had Celiac disease. I was floored. Turns out I was slowly killing her and didn't know it. My blog changed. It was now dedicated to my daughter and learning how to cook the food she loved, but gluten-free. That is how it all began.
